hi,
i already applied as a freshmen for 2008 in the architecture program.  When i submitted the application it said i would need to also submit a portfolio, but now i can't find the requirements anywhere on their site.  Does anyone know what the portfolio (or anything else) is that i need to submit is or where to find the thing on their site?
thanks!

Hi guys. I just got accepted into the Arch program at Cal Poly for early admission (or rather, "conditional" admission, which unnecessarily worries me a bit because I'm imagining Cal Poly saying "hey, congrats...psyke, you're not really accepted!"), so I want to be prepared when housing app time rolls around. I visited Cal Poly a couple months ago and really liked the red brick dorms. When you apply for housing, you apply by the name of the building right? If so, could someone list the names of all the red-brick buildings? I know Tanaya and Sequoia, but I don't know any others. I think that my tour guide mentioned in passing that arch students have to live in certain dorms, but I don't know if I heard right...

Also, are the red brick dorms the closest ones to the school, or are they all pretty much the same distance? My tour guide also mentioned in passing that sometimes her friends napped in her Sequoia dorm between classes because their dorms were too far away.

Thanks in advance.

hello everyone!,

Well I'm new here. Anyways after researching in-depth about Cal-poly, I have identified this college as my first choice. I'm currently a senior at high school and already applied as freshman for fall 2008. I want to know if I have possibilities of being accepted based on your own experiences. I applied for Software Engineering/industrial technology, with a csu gpa of 4.13 and a total gpa of 3.73. I do have leadership positions, and am involved in extracurricular clubs. my sat score is 1490. I know that it is a very competitive school to get into, so i'm worried that I won't get selected.

Thanks

San Luis County Animal Services ( aka the kill shelter) is going to start putting gown dogs because the kennel is full. They are located between Poly and Cuesta on Kansas Street off of Highway 1.
Yes, they are going to start killing fine, adoptable dogs because they are full. It is the way of the pound.

But you can help! If you have been thinking of adopting an animal, go check it out! There is a website, http://www.slosheriff.org/animal_services.php but some pictures are out of date. They have a wide mix of dogs (and cats) from tiny Chihuahuas to Labradors and a Mastiff mix.

Come by in person and see who's there to love you forever!

(Thanks _phaedrus_ for not immediately deleting this!)

I'm getting a place off campus and I want a good internet connection. I've heard some pretty bad things about charter. Anyone have any experience with charters broadband? I have a friend who can't even get on during the day. I am wondering if it is only him or does everyone have this kind of experience with charter in SLO?

Hi, I'll be applying for Cal Poly in October (to transfer in 2008). I checked out the '07 admission profile and it says that out of 819 applicants for Business Administration(my major), only 137 were accepted, which is the lowest transfer rate out of all the majors, at around 17%. The average GPA of those accepted for Business admin is 3.4, the highest of all the majors.

This makes me pretty nervous since my GPA is at only around 3.2, and I didn't expect Cal Poly to be so selective. What was your GPA when you were accepted? What would have been your second choice if Cal Poly was to reject you?

AT WORK: WANTED TO LISTEN TO RADIO....WENT TO PANDORA LIKE USUAL, CUZ REG RADIO ISN'T GOOD AROUND HERE AND WE DON'T GET MUCH RECEPTION. FOUND THIS...

WE WILL COMPLAIN WHEN IT HAPPENS, SO WHY NOT COMPLAIN BEFORE IT HAPPENS....

The future of Internet radio is in immediate danger. Royalty rates for webcasters have been drastically increased by a recent ruling and are due to go into effect on July 15 (retroactive to Jan 1, 2006!). If the increased rates remain unchanged, the majority of webcasters will go bankrupt and silent on this date. Internet radio needs your help! The Internet Radio Equality Act has recently been introduced in both the House and Senate to save the Internet radio industry. Please call your senators and your representative to ask them to co-sponsor the Internet Radio Equality Act.

Please call the following official(s):
1. U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein
(202) 224-3841
Washington, D.C. office

2. U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer
(202) 224-3553
Washington, D.C. office

Talking Points:
1) I am a constituent and I’m calling to ask you to save Internet radio by co-sponsoring the Internet Radio Equality Act.

2) The Copyright Royalty Board’s decision to increase royalty rates for webcasters is going to turn off my Internet radio and I do NOT want that to happen. Please co-sponsor the Internet Radio Equality Act.

3) I believe that artists should be fairly compensated for the music they make, but putting my webcasters out of business will only hurt artists more. They depend on Internet radio to get their music out to fans and build new audiences. When the webcasters go off the air, so do artists. Please co-sponsor the Internet Radio Equality Act.

4) Internet radio is one of the only bright spots for independent music and diversity. We NEED Internet radio. Don’t turn it off. Co-sponsor the Internet Radio Equality Act.

5) (If you are an artist) Internet radio enables artists like myself to reach fans throughout the country and enjoy exposure and airplay that we may otherwise have not received. I'm asking you to co-sponsor the Internet Radio Equality Act.
